It holds more than 4000 volumes, encompassing the Pre-Columbian, Colonial and Modern periods. The library is catalogued in the digital system of the Ludwig von Mises Library, of Universidad Francisco Marroquín. The Library of Dr. Michael D. Coe
A promised donation to the Museo Popol Vuh
In 2006, Museo Popol Vuh at Universidad Francisco Marroquín awarded Dr. Michael Coe with the Orden del Pop, as a recognition for his contribution to research, teaching and spread the knowledge of mesoamerican archaeology. Professor Coe has promised to donate his library, one of the most complete in his field, to Museo Popol Vuh, with these words:

Michael D. Coe |
"I've been collecting books on the archaeology and antrhopology of Mesoamerica even since I was a Harvard undergraduate. During the four decades that I taught at Yale, I made this library freely available to my students, and I think that most of them received an important part of their education from it. I have long thought about the final disposition of this research tool. Guatemala has give me so much over the past half century that I would like my books to go that country for the benefit of its students and researches. The excellence of the Museo Popol Vuh (and the Universidad Francisco Marroquín), and its up-to-date infrastructure, suggested to me that it would be the ideal place for such a research collection."
